If The Molly Malone Statue Could Speak What Would She Say?
Think about it, if the Molly Malone statue on Suffolk Street could speak what would she say?
That is the very question being posed to the general public by Fáilte Ireland.
Budding writers are being asked to write a short monologue of up to 300 words as part of a new competition.
The winning monologue will be recorded by an actor from the Abbey Theatre.
Furthermore, as people walk past the Molly Malone statue, they will have an option to use their smartphones to swipe a QR code on a plaque.
The end result, you will receive a call from the legendary woman herself, Molly Malone, right then and there in Dublin’s fair city.
The competition is the latest development of the Dublin’s Talking Statues project, an initiative of Fáilte Ireland in conjunction with Sing London with the assistance of Dublin City Council, OPW, Trinity College, The National Gallery, The GPO and The Abbey Theatre.
Those who wish to enter can send their monologue to competitions@talkingstatuesdublin.ie before March 31st.
Not only this, Fáilte Ireland are also requesting interested parties to provide a monologue for the Apples & Atoms Walton sculpture located in Trinity College.
