Free Events All Night Long

Culture Night Dublin is in its 13th year this year and is picking up where it left off, with a sprawling programme of events. This event is a celebration of all Ireland’s arts, heritage, and culture. Dublin City Council Arts Office and the Department of Culture Heritage and the Gaeltacht are collaborating, along with the event’s other valued partners and artists, to bring a range of venues and public spaces to life.

Friday September 21st celebrates all things and people creative and innovative; showcasing Dublin’s unique, creative treasures. The programme offers an eclectic choice of cultural attractions and galleries with some outdoor events included; ‘bringing the magic of Culture Night to a number of public spaces’.

An open-air concert in the grounds of National Museum of Ireland, presented by RTÉ, Creative Ireland, and OPW is one of the exciting events included in the outdoor programme. Other happenings include: Dublin Street Art Tour, a photographic exhibition in The Darkroom, Stoneybatter, readings of the renowned George Bernard Shaw and James Stephens in Camden Street’s Last Bookshop, and Currach racing on the Liffey.

The all-island public event will see National Cultural Institutions extend their opening hours to allow for increased public access. All workshops and unique events that feature on the programme are free of charge.

What started in Dublin in 2006 as a small scale cultural event, now welcomes aprox.400,000 people to attend museums, galleries, historic houses, and artists’ studios across the country. The annual event hopes to remind people that the experiences of the night can be revisited all-year round, and encourages communities to engage in their local cultural scene; sometimes we forget what fantastic cultural facilities and resources we have on our doorsteps.
