Irish Farmers’ Association Seeking to Hire Two Membership Development Agents

The Irish Farmers’ Association (IFA) is currently seeking to hire two Membership Development Agents. The IFA is Ireland’s largest organisation representing farmers across all sectors. It has lobbied for farmers both in Ireland and across Europe for the past 60 years with the goal of securing better incomes and conditions for farm families. The IFA follows a democratic structure to ensure that each IFA has an impact on the organisation. Every member belongs to an IFA branch, and representatives from each branch are elected to the County Executive. There is also a National Committee.

Membership Development Agents strive to acquire new members for the organisation by promoting membership benefits. The first development territory is Kilkenny, Waterford, South Wexford and South Tipperary, and the second is Tipperary North & South, Clare and Offaly.

Membership Development Agents have many primary responsibilities. Agents promote IFA membership benefits, manage the process of membership renewals and provide members with pertinent information. They are also expected to generate new business leads and use their own initiative to identify potential new members. Once they have acquired new members, they are additionally responsible for handling any member queries.

Ideal candidates for this position will have previous field sales experience and an ability to use leads to generate business. It is also crucial that candidates understand the purpose of the IFA , so they must be knowledgeable about farming and rural issues. A demonstrated record of working in customer support, strong attention to detail, and a full clean driving license are additional ideal traits.

Interested candidates may forward a CV & Cover Letter in confidence to: helen.halpin@fordehr.ie
