Dún Laoghaire Christmas Festival – Sat 30th Nov – Mon 23rd Dec

Dún Laoghaire Christmas Festival – Dún Laoghaire is all set to be electrifying again this Christmas as the iconic Ferris Wheel takes centre stage at the annual Christmas Festival. A 55ft retro Ferris Wheel, built in 1958 and reported to have featured in the original Grease movie, is a highlight. In keeping with the Hollywood theme, the festival also features vintage Chair-O-Planes that were used in the making of TV series Into the Badlands. These iconic funfair rides will provide spectacular views of the Dún Laoghaire Harbour with a touch of nostalgia, a sense of adventure and a whole lot of “Greased Lightning!”

The Vintage Carnival will be placed at Moran Park beside dlr LexIcon to compliment the traditional Dún Laoghaire Christmas Market. It will include classic family attractions full of nostalgic charm such as colourful retro Hobby Horses, candyfloss, a rollercoaster, Santa’s Post Box and a charming Christmas Market with a traditional and nostalgic theme, bringing the magic of Christmas and a winter wonderland for the festive season.

Santa will arrive to open the festival and switch on the Christmas lights in Harbour Plaza, on Saturday November 30th.

The Dún Laoghaire Christmas Market is a feast for the seasonal senses as carefully selected vendors sell authentic hand-made gifts and delicious treats every weekend on the Metals and opposite dlr LexIcon from 11am-7pm.

Aromas of gourmet sausages, Hungarian Lángos, German Gluhwein, Fresh Falafel, Gingerbread and steaming hot chocolate will fill the air as you wander. If you are searching for the perfect Christmas present the market has hand-crafted gifts and decorations, jewellery, limited edition photographic prints, Hurling watches and clocks, Trendy Socks, PaperBear Greeting cards, knitwear, fragrances and hemp products for people and pets. Its a whole host of very special quality gifts and treats that are not mass-produced but hand-crafted with love.

Presented by Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council.
