Palestine says test results prove Israel killed Yasser Arafat
Palestine and Israel don’t need anything to spark new hostilities between the two nations but reports coming out of Palestine may have done just that. Reports have emerged from Palestine that they now have concrete evidence to back up their claims that their former leader Yasser Arafat was poisoned to death in 2004. Suha Arafat, the wife of the former
Palestinian leader has spoke out about the findings of forensic tests that were carried out in Switzerland.
Mrs. Arafat believes that her husband was the victim of a political assassination and has said “It is scientifically proved that he didn’t die a natural death and we have scientific proof that he was killed.” The Palestinian government is laying the blame at Israel who they believe were behind the poisoning using polonium.
Samples of Mr. Arafat’s body and clothing were taken and examined by experts last November in order to determine the cause of his death due to constant rumours that foul play was involved. Wasel Abu Yousef who is a member of the executive committee of the Palestine Liberation Organisation has also blamed Israel for Arafat’s death saying “President Arafat was the victim of an organised terrorist assassination perpetrated by Israel, which was looking to get rid of him.”
These allegations will surely be hard to prove as it is well known that the former Palestinian President had many enemies throughout the world ranging from Palestinian dissidents and other Arab rivals. Officials in Israel have always categorically disputed and denied the Palestinian’s allegations that they were involved in Arafat’s death. The country’s foreign ministry spokesman Yigal Palmor has dismissed the recent claims labelling them false and saying that they were “more soap opera than science.”
