Property tax deadline extended until 5pm tomorrow
The Revenue Commission has announced that they will be extending the deadline for people filing for local property tax payment online following 70,000 calls overwhelmed its helpline this week. Around 30,000 people called the helpline yesterday alone as the deadline for payment drew closer.
A spokesperson for the commission said that “due to the exceptional level of filing over the past two days, and unprecedented volume of calls to the local property tax helpline,” they have decided to extend the online filing deadline until tomorrow evening.
They have also confirmed that those who could not get through to the helpline this week but left a recorded message on the answering machine system will be considered to have met the deadline as long as they file their return swiftly after their query has been answered.
The new deadline has been set for 5pm tomorrow evening for those who are still looking to make the payment online.
