Irish employment up 2.9% in Q2
Figures show that more than 2 million people are now employed in Ireland. The number of people employed in Ireland continues to rise, increasing by 2.9 per cent, or 56,200, in the in the second quarter of the year, bringing the total up to 2,014,900, the Central Statistisc Office said on Tuesday.
The figure means that the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was unchanged over the quarter at 8.4 per cent. Unemployment decreased by 23,400 (-11.1%) in the year to Q2 201,6 bringing the total number of persons unemployed to 187,800.
