March saw the first ever state auction of former Garda Stations. The auction was held at Ganly Walter’s offices in Dublin. The former stations that were sold were  Mallow Road, Co Cork for €260,000, Grangemockler, Co Tipperary for €103,000, Inchigeela, Co Cork for €55,000, Lettermore, Co Galway for €70,000 and  Baldwinstown, Co Wexford for  €75,000.

Speaking about the auction, auctioneer Robert Ganly said “There was huge interest in the properties, with over 75 people attending the auction and nearly 300 enquiries of which 15 per cent were UK enquiries and the rest were Irish. We expect that nearly all of the Garda Stations will be converted back to houses so it was a great opportunity for families seeking quality properties which had been well maintained in the majority to acquire a property in a good location.”
