The LAPD has added a rather impressive addition to its police force in the form of a brand new Lamborghini Gallardo. The new vehicle was donated to the Los Angeles Police Force by Travis and Nathalie Marg who are the owners of Light Source 1, a fiber optics company in Los Angeles.

Unfortunately for the LAPD the vehicle will not be deployed in any high speed chases as seen with the police force in places like Dubai, whose entire fleet of cars are Lamborghini’s. Instead the Gallardo will be used as a charity vehicle alongside the departments Air Support Team.

The Lamborghini already has its own Twitter and Instagram accounts, using the screen name LAPDLambo, as well as a website. It will make its first official appearance at the Los Angeles County Air Show on March 21st. According to Lamborghini’s website, the car has a top speed of 199 mph and it is hoped that the impressive new addition will inspire people to join the force.
