On This Day In 1963: John F. Kennedy Was Assasinated
It was on this day, November 22nd, in 1963 that the then American President John F. Kennedy was assasinated by Lee Harvey Oswald in Dallas, Texas.
The shooting occured at around 12:30pm as the 35th President of the US travelled through Dealey Plaza in a motorcade.
As the vehicle passed by Texas School Book Depository, it wasn’t long until gunfire erupted.
Bullets pierced the President’s neck and head.
Kennedy was accompanied by his wife Jacqueline and Texas Governor John Connally, along with his wife, at the time of the fatal shooting.
Lee Harvey Oswald allegedly fired three shots from the sixth floor of the Texas School Book Depository, fatally wounding President Kennedy and seriously injuring Governor Connally.
Kennedy was pronounced dead 30 minutes later at Dallas’ Parkland Hospital.
He was only 46. Today marks the 54th anniversary of his death.
