Simple Tips To Stay Active All Year Round
It’s that time of the year when the new years resolutions come into play. Top of the agenda for most of us is to get fit. Many of us see exercise as a chore and don’t associate it with being an enjoyable experience. This doesn’t have to be the case. Here are some helpful tips that can make exercise less of a burden…
Try to make it enjoyable
Choose something that that appeals to you. This way you will be more likely to stick with the activity if it is something that you genuinely enjoy doing.
Check out local options
You don’t need to travel far to find places to get active. Keep it local. Opportunities to get more active in your local area may include leisure centres, sports clubs, parks, walking trails, swimming pools or exercise classes.
Make it a social thing
Try to get a friend or family member to get active with you. Adding a social aspect to it will benefit you in other ways and you can help keep each other motivated and on track.
Keep exercise equipment in your home
This will help you stay active if the weather outside is very bad. You can use exercise DVDs, a stationary bike, skipping rope or fitness ball or free weights. Bad weather doesn’t need to hamper your progress.
Have fun with it
Not all exercise needs to be regimented. You can go dancing, swimming, hiking, walking etc.
Try to be more active around the house
General housework, walking the dog and gardening are all physical activities that burn calories and can help keep you fit.
Look for ways to move your body each day
For example, walk or cycle to the local shops, instead of driving the car. Use the stairs instead of the lift or escalator.
