Gardai investigate discovery of man’s body on laneway near city property

Gardai are investigating the discovery of a man’s body near a property in Cork. The body, understood to be that of a man in his late 20s or early 30s, was discovered on a laneway leading to a property off the Lower Glanmire Road in Cork city.

The discovery was made this morning and both Gardai and paramedics were immediately alerted.

However, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

It is believed the man was a resident of a nearby property close to Rockgrove Terrace.

There were no initial signs of foul play but Gardai are keeping an open mind about the discovery until they receive preliminary indications from the State Pathologists Office.

The scene has been sealed off and the body will be examined in situ before the remains are transferred to Cork University Hospital (CUH) for a full post mortem examination.

Gardai stressed that the nature of their investigation will be determined by the post mortem findings.

Officers began door to door inquiries in the area to confirm the identify of the deceased and details of his last movements.
