Walk of the Month: Avondale Forest Park – River Walk

Take in the very best Avondale has to offer: Avonmore River, a diverse and wide range of trees and fantastic views.

As well as passing a variety of tree species, this trail takes you alongside the river, under the Dublin to Rosslare railway line and past the deer pen.

The route sets out from the car park a quickly descends toward the Avonmore River, you’ll pass ‘Lovers Leep’ along the way and follow the river as it meanders down the valley.

A hard climb brings you back up into the higher forest as you continue along the southern edge forest to finish back in the car park. The route can be walked in either direction.

A noise free, peaceful walk with just the sound of the running river, in the heart of the ‘Garden of Ireland’.
