Boots Ireland To Become Main Sponsor Of Daffodil Day 2018

Boots Ireland has announced they will become the official main sponsor of Daffodil Day 2018  in attempts to raise much needed awareness of cancer.

Daffodil Day is the Irish Cancer Society’s annual fundraiser, now in its 31st year this coming March, which raises millions of euro to support cancer patients and their loved ones by providing free advice and support, as well as by funding life-saving cancer research.

The sponsorship comes following a five year partnership between Boots Ireland and the Irish Cancer Society .

A number of fundraising activities take place throughout the year in the 86 Boots stores around the country to raise money for the Irish Cancer Society’s Night Nursing service.

To date Boots employees and customers have raised over €1,213,901 to fund this service, equating to over 3,468 nights of nursing care for families around the country.

On March 23rd all Boots stores will sell Daffodil Day materials. Selected stores will also act as a point of contact for the distribution of Daffodil Day materials in the local community.

Averil Power, CEO of the Irish Cancer Society said:

“The Irish Cancer Society and Boots Ireland have built a solid partnership over the last five years. By supporting our Night Nursing Service and providing cancer information in store, Boots Ireland is helping us improve the lives of people affected by cancer all over Ireland. We are delighted they have decided to extend their support for the Society this year by becoming official main sponsor of Daffodil Day on 23rd March.

“The Irish Cancer Society relies on donations and sponsorship to raise 98% of our income. Without Daffodil Day, we simply could not provide vital services such as our Night Nursing, freephone Cancer Nurseline or Volunteer Driver Service, or fund life-saving research. Traditionally one-fifth of all our annual income is raised on Daffodil Day. Boots Ireland’s sponsorship of our national fundraising day will help us make Daffodil Day a success and ensure we can help more people affected by cancer and their families. We won’t give up until cancer does.”

Bernadette Lavery, Managing Director, Boots Ireland said:

“Daffodil Day is celebrated in towns and communities across the country and we are delighted to evolve our partnership with the Irish Cancer Society by becoming the official main sponsor of this year’s Daffodil Day. With 86 stores spread across the country, we are well placed in local communities to join forces in helping in the fight against cancer and ensuring that Daffodil Day 2018 is a successful one.”
