The first deadline for property tax payment has arrived

For those of us who plan to submit our Local Property Tax return by paper today is the day that it has to be submitted by. The large number of enquiries and complaints surrounding the issue had forced the revenue to extend the deadline to today’s date. Over one million people had been sent out letters in the past few weeks asking how they had planned to pay the property tax for the next year.

If you plan to send in your payment by post it will have to be sent by the end of today and the revenue has said that it will accept all payments that are postmarked with today’s date on the envelope. Enda Kenny has recently stated that the Government would prefer to receive the bulk of the property tax payments next year and has told the public to look at all of the payment options provided by the revenue.

For those who are choosing to make the payment online and for those who need to indicate their method of payment the deadline for those is the 27th of November. The opening hours of the property tax helpline have been extended to deal with any enquiries the public may have surrounding the issue and their telephone number is 1890 200 255. The office of the local property tax office is open from 8am to 8pm today.
